Rp 3.5 billion (~$379,000 USD) Ecstasy and Crystal Methamphetamine destroyed

National Narcotics Board (Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) destroyed 9,552 ecstasy and 1,394 grams of crystal methamphetamine, known as shabu-shabu, on Monday (1/18) in BNN office, Jl MT Haryono, Cawang, East Jakarta. Those evidences are the result of officer operation in the last week of December 2009 of 4 criminal cases from December 28th to December 31st; they worth Rp 3.5 billion.

Head of BNN Management Operation Center, Brigjend Pol, Tommi Sagiman, stated that the drugs circulation in Indonesia is getting more serious year by year.

The network of drug syndicates is increasing in quality and quantity. Indonesia is not only a consuming country but also a producing country. “The problem will be more serious if it is not solved seriously,” said Tommi Sagiman, Monday (1/18).

Sagiman added that the syndicates won’t stop operating. They will work with other syndicates to widen the network.

“Evidences extermination is a symbol in making this country free from narcotics and dangerous drugs,” he said.

The officers should be carefully and more serious in fight against various drugs smuggling modes. “They hide the drugs in their shoes, stomach, toys, milk, food boxes, etc,” he added.

Some representatives attending this extermination are from Health Ministry, general attorney, district court, Directorate of Customs and Excise, Indonesian Police, Food and Drug Control, NGOs, community figures and religion figures.
