IRELAND - Gardaí arrested a man for questioning following a €500,000 drugs seizure in a remote part of County Cork yesterday evening. Officers arrested the Polish national after they found 70 kilos of cannabis resin and two kilos of cannabis weed at a house in the Tarelton area outside Macroom.
Gardaí estimate the cannabis resin has a street value of €490,000 while the two kilos of cannabis weed is thought to be worth a further €20,000.
The discovery followed a series of searches of houses in Macroom before the follow-up search in Tarelton uncovered the huge drugs haul. The man was arrested under drug trafficking legislation which allows hold suspects to be held for up to seven days.
