Agents seize 36 pounds of opium; two Jay men held
JAY - Two Delaware County men are being held on $1 million bail after federal and state agents seized 36 pounds of pure opium.
Xue Yang, 32, and Wang Chong Khang, 25, both of Jay, were charged Wednesday with endeavoring to distribute controlled substance.
Yang is from California and Khang is from Thailand, said Assistant District Attorney Bryce Lair.
"This probably the largest seizure of pure opium ever in the state," Lair said.
Customs and Border Protection agents intercepted a package in Dallas, coming from Laos to Colcord, officials said. The package contained opium wrapped in plastic inside mushrooms, according to an arrest affidavit.
