SELLERSBURG, Ind. — A 71-year-old pilot from Alaska has been charged with flying into a southern Indiana airport with 200 pounds of marijuana stashed inside the plane.
Clark County prosecutors on Thursday charged Allen Richter of Ketchikan, Alaska, with felony charges of dealing marijuana. The News and Tribune of Jeffersonville reports (http://bit.ly/tLjlxe ) that state troopers were notified Nov. 4 by U.S. Customs officials about a plane traveling from California that had changed its flight plan.
Police say a search dog found signs of drugs and the marijuana was found in 10 bags inside the single-engine plane at Clark County Regional Airport about 10 miles north of Louisville, Ky.
Richter is being held in the Clark County Jail. Court records didn't list a defense attorney on Friday.
