Progreso, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Weslaco station seized more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana early this morning.
At about 8 a.m., Border Patrol agents on patrol west of the Progreso port of entry observed a suspicious gold minivan traveling north from the Rio Grande.
The agents followed the vehicle north on FM-1015 near Progreso, where the vehicle’s driver and passenger bailed out. The two subjects were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
A total of 17 large bundles of marijuana, which have a cumulative value of more than $1 million, were found inside the van.
