ROANOKE RAPIDS — Roanoke Rapids Police Department made a drug arrest after receiving a call about a driver slumped over a steering wheel on Highway 158.
According to Police Chief Jeff Hinton, officers responded to a call at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near Centura Bank on 158.
Upon arrival, they encountered Anthony Ryan Hilliard, 22, of Rocky Mount.
After some interaction, police searched Hilliard and discovered five dosage units of heroin and ten dosage units of marijuana, according to Hinton.
Officers arrested Hilliard at the scene and charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance and driving while impaired.
Hilliard was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond and is due in court July 28.
