Art Garfunkel, the other half of the folk music duo Simon and Garfunkel, was pulled off the road in upstate New York because the limousine he was travelling in was speeding. He was, however, subsequently charged with marijuana possession.
Associated Press reports that on Saturday afternoon a state trooper ordered the limo, in which Garfunkel was the sole passenger, to stop because it was speeding.
On approaching the vehicle, though, the trooper picked up a whiff of marijuana. The 62-year-old singer allegedly had a small amount of pot in his jacket.
According to reports, the trooper did not know at the time who he was arresting. Garfunkel is to appear in court on January 28. He can, however, respond by mail or have his lawyer represent him in his absence. He faces a fine of $100.
Simon and Garfunkel's hits include: 'The Sounds of Silence', 'Mrs. Robinson', 'Old Friends' and 'The 59th Street Bridge Song'.
