TROY, N.Y. — New York police have charged standout Binghamton University basketball player Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben with possessing and selling cocaine.
The 22-year-old pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday and was ordered held on $20,000 bail.
Police say Mayben had 3.4 grams of cocaine when he was arrested Wednesday night in his hometown of Troy. He was charged in an indictment with selling cocaine twice on June 29.
Binghamton coach Kevin Broadus declined to comment.
Mayben set a school single-season record for assists last year while leading Binghamton to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA basketball tournament.
He played at Massachusetts in the 2006-07 season and transferred to Hudson Valley Community College in the 2007-08 season.
