Breaking Bad Revisited: Chemistry Teacher Brings Date-Rape Drug to School

  1. Beenthere2Hippie
TEXAS - Houston chemistry teacher was found in possession of recipes for date-rape drugs in her backpack when she was arrested at the Oak Ridge High School on Friday (12 September).

Haivan Bui, 29, was arrested alongside her husband, Chris Alan Hartwell, 33, and charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of aggravated possession of a controlled substance and a felon in possession of a firearm. Also found in the couple's possession was two ounces of methamphetamine and several ounces of gamma-hydroxybutyrate, which is a compound found in date-rape drugs.

Marijuana, prescription medications and a loaded shotgun were also discovered by investigators. Residents who lived in the same apartment building as the couple expressed shock. "I'm shocked. They didn't look like the type of people who would do that," said resident Curneesha Hammonds. While another Phyllis Hannon added, "Maybe they're trying to be the new Breaking Bad. He was a chemistry teacher on the show, too."

The Conroe ISD released a statement, as reported by Click2Houston News:

"Conroe ISD employee, Haivan Bui, was arrested earlier today by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit on drug-related charges. Ms. Bui was hired in June 2013 to teach science at Oak Ridge High School. The investigation is still ongoing and is actively being investigated at this time."

How did they find them exactly?

This is a just-breaking story straight off the news link therefore no further information is available currently. I'm sure the story will unwind as the days go by. If and when it updates, I'll be sure to update here as well.

I am still trying to figure out exactly what it is they did that warranted such a statement. That "that" in her statement leaves me confused as to what exactly they did other than possess drugs and a gun. Did they "sell" the drugs, use the gun to threaten someone?

I sure hope I don't look like the type of person that would do "that".

You're right. I hope I don't look like the type (whatever the hell that means) either. It's a confusing little tidbit of news that will hopefully expand and make more sense in the next day or so. If not, everyone watch out for your neighbors. Maybe it's finally time to be start being nicer to the crazy cat lady who lives next door to you--the one who seems to be taking down license plate numbers whenever you have company. Scary monster, those neighbors can be.

I don't really understand what Breaking Bad has to do with this story. In no way did the main character of Breaking Bad have anything to do with a date rape drug or marijuanna. This just pisses me off because it gives the tv show a bad name. This is ridiculous. What a stupidly written article. The information isn't even clear.

Probably a take from the quote in the story referring to Breaking Bad is all. Nothing more. That's the take of the writer who dubbed the headline and I just kept the flavor of the original headline which was, "Breaking Bad Reality: Chemistry Teacher Brings Date-Rape Drug Recipes to School." Hope that clears up the mystery. :)
