57-year-old Cambodian man is set to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with importing drugs into Australia concealed inside his body.

Customs and Border Protection Officers stopped the man for questioning at Brisbane International Airport when he arrived on a flight from Thailand on 31 May.

During questioning officers became suspicious that the man was concealing drugs internally.

The man was referred to the Australian Federal Police and taken to hospital for a medical examination.

It will be alleged in court the man passed 300 pellets while in hospital believed to contain approximately one kilogram of heroin.

The man was charged with importing a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug contrary to section 307.2(1) and possessing a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug, contrary to section 307.6(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995.

The maximum penalty for these offences is 25 years imprisonment and/or a $500,000 fine.

Jesus... a bit less than a gram per pellet, should have sniffed some to be calm around the border patrol .. they make me nervous and I never risk moving shit across a border, even for personal use..

in all seriousness though, at least he's alive! Whoever "discovered" the pellets has a shitty job
