Canadian Trucker Faces Md. Sentence On Drug Counts
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) ― A Canadian truck driver faces sentencing in Frederick for drug-dealing convictions involving large amounts of Ecstasy and marijuana seized more than a year ago.
Forty-six-year-old Mario Plourde (plurd), of Saint-Hubert-de-Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, was convicted under a plea agreement last February of two counts of conspiracy to possess marijuana and Ecstasy. He is free on $250,000 bond.
Plourde and Bruno Bendo, of Laval, Quebec, were arrested in December 2008 after a Frederick County deputy found 100,000 Ecstasy pills inside two suitcases in Bendo's rented car.
Bendo provided information that led police to Plourde and 104 pounds of marijuana stashed in a warehouse.
Bendo pleaded guilty in March to a federal drug charge.
