Car seized on I-15 with cache of cocaine
FALLBROOK – Customs officials on Tuesday announced that a car with 37½ pounds of cocaine in a hidden gas-tank compartment was seized and its driver was arrested on Interstate 15.
Border Patrol agents pulled the 23-year-old driver over on I-15 in the Fallbrook area about 2 p.m. Monday. After questioning him, they asked for a drug-sniffing dog.
They found 15 packages of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1.2 million in the hidden compartment, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.
The man, whose hometown was not disclosed, was turned over to officials from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
