MERCED, Calif. — Members of a Central Valley drug task force say they've seized millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine in what is believed to be the largest meth bust ever conducted in the valley.

Merced County District Attorney Larry Morse says as part of an investigation that began with the purchase of one pound of methamphetamine in April, agents with the Merced Multi-Agency Narcotics Task Force later seized 330 pounds of the drug.

Morse says the street value of the meth is estimated to be more than $9 million. Agents also seized more than $100,000, three vehicles and arrested 11 people.

The drugs were believed to be produced by an international drug cartel that officials say use the Central Valley as a hub for its methamphetamine operation.

Officials plan to release more information during a Wednesday morning press conference.
