Not only did a drug squad uncover 1 ton of pot at 32 Wilcock St. in Dorchester this week, it also busted up a heroin ring with ties to the same address.

The mountain of weed was packed into an apartment on the third floor while the heroin case was linked to a tenant on the first floor of the triple-decker.

Federal officials told the Herald yesterday eight men and one woman were arrested for peddling between 1 and 2 kilograms of heroin each week in Massachusetts.

Federal and Boston drug officers arrested the nine suspects in Boston, Lynn and Pennsylvania. Raul Pena, also known as Wilfredo Alverez Ayala, is accused of being the ringleader who allegedly had operated out of Boston for years.

The feds came looking for him Wednesday on Wilcock Street only to stumble upon a ton of pot in the third-floor apartment when the tenant was rattled by the raid two floors down.

The alleged owner of the wall of weed - Felix Baez Soto, who told cops his name was Edgar Gonzalez, 41 - is being held on $1 million bail.

Both Soto and Pena are natives of the Dominican Republic.
