Drug bust at Peace Bridge
BUFFALO, N.Y. - U.S. border guards on Sunday seized a large cache of the club drug ecstasy at the Peace Bridge.
According to Customs and Border Protection, a 36-year-old woman from Georgia crossed the bridge Sunday and told border officials she was returning from having visited family in the Toronto area.
During the course of an inspection of her vehicle, officers discovered 13 wrapped bundles hidden in both rear quarter panels and the trunk area.
The bundles contained 25,167 tablets of ecstasy. The drugs had an estimated street value of $500,000.
The motorist was arrested on federal charges of importation and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.
