Drug paraphernalia found at Giggs mothers house
Police were today investigating an incident at the home of footballer Ryan Giggs's mother in which people were seen acting suspiciously.
Officers were called to the mansion in Worsley, Greater Manchester, while Lynne Johnson, 51, was in Rome to watch her son play for Manchester United in the Champions League final.
A neighbour raised the alarm after she became concerned that a number of people had gathered around the house while she knew that Ms Johnson was in Italy.
An officer arrived at the scene and spotted up to three men and a woman who ran into the house and locked the door.
While he called for back-up the suspects made off from the rear of the property.
It is understood there was no sign of a forced entry at the mansion and items of drugs paraphernalia were found inside, although no drugs.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 9.40pm on Wednesday, police were called to a house on Chatsworth Road, Worsley, following reports a man was seen acting suspiciously nearby.
"An officer attended and approached two or three men and a woman who were seen nearby and who immediately ran into the back of the house and locked the door.
"The officer called for assistance and forced open a side garden gate before entering through an open rear door.
"No one was found inside and the house was made secure.
"Inquiries are continuing. "
Police were waiting to speak to Ms Johnson about the incident.
