Falcons' Babineaux charged with pot possession after traffic stop

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica]LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. --Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Jonathon Babineaux was arrested Thursday night and charged with marijuana possession.[/FONT]

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica]Gwinnett County Police Cpl. David Schiralli said Babineaux was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 in suburban Atlanta around 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica] Schiralli said the 28-year-old Babineaux had nearly 1½ ounces of marijuana and is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Intent to distribute charges can be brought any time someone has more than an ounce.

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica] Babineaux also faces charges for having an expired registration and driving without a license.

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica] He was released from the Gwinnett County jail Friday morning on $8,300 bond.

    Man, these cops can't watch football or just didn't like the guy. Why would they charge him for intent to distribute not even a 1 1/2 oz of pot when he makes about 5 million a year? The charge probably won't even stick.

    A suspension from the uber-strict NFL will be announced soon.
