Gov't troops destroy 40,000 full-grown marijuana in Kalinga

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga, Sept. 27 (PIA) -- A composite team of government operatives had discovered and destroyed at least 40,000 fully grown stems of marijuana in Sitio Onway, Barangay Bugnay of this town.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency(PDEA) provincial field office estimated the worth of the destroyed contraband at P8 million.

Kalinga Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Froilan Perez said the marijuana plantation is situated along the ridge between the municipalities of Sadanga, Mountain Province and this town.

The operation was successfully executed through the help of police civilian assets and concerned barangay officials in the area.

Perez warned unscrupulous people in the province engaged in the cultivation and trafficking of illegal drugs vowing that the law will never cease in running after them.

Last month, police teams destroyed another marijuana plantation in Sitio Talaca of Barangay Agbannawag in Tabuk.

Perez has alerted all police check points in the province to intensify inspection of all vehicles, private and public, as a move to stop the illegal drugs business in the place.(LL- PIA CAR, Kalinga)
