Grad Student Sentenced Over Morphine-Laced Beer

Nobody's confused, was he using poppies as a admixture, was he extracting morphine from them, or was he manufacturing heroin? These seem to be three very separate processes with an ascending liability and obviousness of criminal intent. How can you be charged for heroin when you only have morphine? Can you be charged with crack possession if you make coca tea? Bloody curious as to how he got caught, homebrewing isn't illegal, he's clearly above age as a grad student, wonder what sort of probable cause they had to test his drink in a lab?

Head down to Poppies for further discussion on the topic...

    Love.

How can he be charged with "heroin possession" for poppy pod extract?

While the extract would contain morphine, it would not contain any heroin. Is this just bad reporting I wonder?
