Illegal monkey, marijuana and dead hawk found at home

  1. Rob Cypher
After a lengthy investigation, two people have been arrested on charges of illegally owning a young Grivet monkey.

State Police began their investigation last August when Wyoming County Probation officers say they discovered the animal at the home of 56-year-old Dara Jennings and 47-year-old Mark Galioto in the Town of Java. The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation ultimately seized the animal while investigating how the pair came to possess it.

Authorities say they discovered Jennings and Galioto had forged a federal acquisition form to obtain the Grivet monkey. During a search of the pair’s property, pieces of a deceased Red-tailed Hawk as well as 11 small marijuana plants were found.

Both were arrested and charged with first degree offering a false instrument for filing, tampering with physical evidence, and illegal possession of a Grivet monkey. Galioto was additionally charged with unlawfully growing cannabis and illegal possession of a Red-tailed Hawk.

Jennings and Galioto are due back in court at a later date.

Simply amazing! That methamphetamine was not located within this article. I'm quite sure the it was an oversight, that it wasn't. Rarely would the media pass up an opportunity to take advantage of a sensational story like this without a drug connection.
