drug bust by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Detroit Police Department task force netted some $1.3 million worth of heroin, officials said.
On Friday, the Detroit Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST) intercepted a parcel about to be delivered to a vacant home on the city's west side.
The task force set up surveillance, executed a search warrant and retrieved the parcel, which contained 715 grams of heroin, police said. No arrests were made.
"Thanks to collaborative efforts with ICE, this bust brings to nearly $18 million the value of the cocaine, marijuana and heroin taken out of circulation in the past three months," Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans said in a statement.
