WINNIPEG - Five people, including two inmates, have been charged in what Mounties say was an attempt to smuggle cocaine and marijuana into The Pas Correctional Centre.
RCMP say officers in The Pas found and seized cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop on Dec. 16 that they believed was destined for the jail.
The two suspects in the vehicle — identified by RCMP as Lloyd Bird, 20, of The Pas and Shelaine Constant, 20, of Opaskwayak — were arrested. Soon after, the RCMP say their investigation led them to arrest Haley Burli, 18, William Burli, 20, and 22-year-old Skylar Constant, 22. William Burli and Constant were both inmates at the jail at the time of the alleged offence, said RCMP.
All five have been charged with drug-trafficking-related offences.
