Japanese murder suspect in Sydney took ecstasy before attack

    Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 05:00 JST
SYDNEY — A Japanese tourist accused of stabbing a man to death at a Sydney backpackers hostel last December took ecstasy prior to the attack, a policeman told a court Tuesday, according to the Australian Associated Press. Noritaka Kawasaki, 28, is charged with the Dec 3 murder of Wayne Lee Nolan at the Avalon Backpackers Hostel.

Kawasaki admitted to police he stabbed Nolan but said he did not remember the events because he had taken one ecstasy tablet prior to stabbing the deceased, according to the report. Kawasaki, from Ibaraki Prefecture, allegedly stabbed Nolan in the face, neck, chest, back and groin as he lay sleeping.

First of all who would kill someone after taking ecstasy? And how could
you kill someone and completely forget about it after taking one
    ecstasy pill?

God that pisses me off. He "says" he doesn't remember it because
of the ecstacy, but I guess they'll believe anything to worsen people's
views on drugs. Commiting a murder while rolling...

the dude obviously had mental problems before this happened. possibly the mdma or who knows what chemical was in the pill (PMA, K, 2ct7) could have caused an already disturbed person to just go that one step further. i'm sure he's gonna be in prison for the rest of his life.

but yea, he doesn't "not remember it",that's just his defense. where did this happen in austrailia or japan?

automatic translator: but he said that after he got back home (after he had finished dumping the remains of his neighbors body) he found a wrapped package on his table.to his amazement the package contained 1gr shard of methamphetamine and a big rusty evil looking knife.having in mind the fact that he was on his 5th day of meth binge, but mostly because the fact that the shard couldnt fit in his meth pipe,he decided to swallow it.that is when the voices really started to talk to him....<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

That is a great excuse of temporary insanity: The XTC did it! I wonder if the SOB gets away with it.

Don't about Australia but several US states do not allow voluntary
intoxication on any substance as a defense or mitigating circumstance.

A defense lawyer has to advise his client to seize on anything that
could possibly let help the case, this doesn't surprise me but if more
people had first hand experience with MDMA this shit wouldn't fly.
