Kathy Rider of Asheville sentenced to 39 years on opium charges
ASHEVILLE — An Asheville woman was sentenced to at least 39 years in prison for trafficking in opium.
A Buncombe County jury convicted Kathy Kaye Rider, 45, of Jonestown Road, on eight drug charges, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The charges include conspiracy to traffic in opium, attempting to traffic in opium, aiding and abetting trafficking in opium and selling a controlled substance.
Rider was sentenced at the conclusion of the trial in Buncombe County Superior Court to 466-578 months in state prison.
