Lil' Scrappy Hopes Rehab For Marijuana Use Will Make Him A ‘Better Man’

Lil Scrappy (pictured), the Atlanta rapper and star of VH1′s wildly popular reality series, “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” reportedly went off to rehab on Wednesday to deal with a self-proclaimed addiction to marijuana, according to WSB-TV.

The 29-year-old performer, who appeared in court Wednesday for failing a court-ordered drug urine test last month and testing positive for weed, also faces a probation revocation as a result. The current three-year probation stems from first-time offender charges for felony gun and drug possession dating back to 2008.

TMZ recently reported that court officials accused Lil Scrappy of trying to turn in a urine sample that was tampered with. When asked to submit a new sample, the rapper refused and a judge issued an arrest warrant; he ended up turning himself in last month in response to the warrant.

When the reality star faced a judge this week, he reportedly admitted his addiction to weed. The dirty south entertainer was given two choices: jail or rehab. He chose rehab.

In a radio interview with V103′s The Ryan Cameron Morning Show before his recent court appearance, Lil Scrappy admitted to listeners that marijuana had taken a toll on his productivity as an artist. “Some people that work hard, when they get on marijuana, they don’t work so hard,” he said. “They get lazy.” He then went on to affirm how he wants the course of his life to change, saying “I want to do better.”

What does the entertainer expect to gain after thirty days of rehab? Besides defeating his drug demons, Lil Scrappy told WSBTV “It is my hope that my time away from my family and especially my little girl, my daughter, will make me a better man.”
