Police in Louisa County uncovered a nearly one million dollar marijuana grow operation Friday.
It happened in the 3000 block of Goldmine Road. Several local law enforcement agencies had suspected an indoor grow operation was being run out of a home on Goldmine Road for a while.
When police went in to the house Friday with a search warrant, they say the smell of marijuana was apparent even from the front steps.
Police say this was a sophisticated grow operation. There were grow lamps, humidifiers and irrigation systems found inside the house.
These people knew how to grow this stuff and they had invested several thousands dollars, says Major Donald Lowe with the Louisa County Sheriff's Office.
Police found 129 marijuana plants valued around $400,000. They also found several pounds of processed marijuana inside the home.
This wouldn't be the typical house where someone would go and pick up a little dime bag of marijuana.
This is more a manufacturing site than it was a distribution site, says Lowe.
David Bickford, Tracy Bickford and Larry Turner Jr. were arrested Friday and charged with the manufacturing of marijuana.
Police are still in the process of trying to find out who the suspects were selling to.
