A 36-year-old man from Orelia, Western Australia, is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today charged with importing pseudoephedrine into Australia.
On 21 May 2010, Customs and Border Protection officers identified a suspect parcel from Thailand upon arrival at the International mail centre at Perth Airport.
Customs and Border Protection and Australian Federal Police Forensic members examined the parcel which contained a large tub labeled as medicine used for joint pain.
Presumptive testing of the white powder indicated the presence of approximately 830 grams of pseudoephedrine.
The parcel was transported to Orelia and the man was subsequently arrested after receiving the parcel. It will be alleged in court that the man knowingly imported pseudoephedrine into Australia
