Man on 'bad trip' found hugging tree in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ — A man high on LSD was jailed Monday night after people called 911 to report a disturbance near Ocean Street and Broadway, police reported.
Jeramiah Long, 23, was hugging a palm tree when officers arrived just before 11 p.m. Long, a transient, reportedly told officers he had taken LSD and was having a "bad trip."
Police said he was "acting erratic and paranoid" and complained that he was seeing strange lights. Long was arrested without incident on suspicion of public intoxication and medically cleared before he was taken to County Jail, according to police.
