CHATHAM BOROUGH — Police say when they responded to the River Grille on River Road just before 2 a.m. Friday, 25-year-old Jacquim Sperlazza of Berkley Heights was already beginning to regain consciousness. It was a report that he'd fallen that brought officers to the restaurant in the first place. But Sperlazza appeared to be under the influence of some kind of drug, police said. Officers found he had 30 bags of marijuana on him, as well as a small vial of PCP, police said.
Sperlazza, a Berkley Heights resident, was transported to the Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad for further treatment, police said.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, being under the influence of a narcotic drug, possession of PCP and possession of paraphernalia.
