CANADA - Toronto mayor Rob Ford says he is “embarrassed” after a new video surfaced showing him in a rambling rage, threatening to “murder” someone.

Moments after the video was posted online, the mayor told reporters that he was “extremely, extremely inebriated” in it.

His mother defended him, saying she has advised him to work on his “huge weight problem,” get a driver, put an alcohol detector in his car and watch the company he keeps.

The better you get to know Mayor Ford, the creepier he becomes. You know it's especially bad when his MOM shows up at a major media event and tells the press he has a weight problem, a drinking problem and cannot be trusted to drive a motor vehicle sober.

Yet this man doesn't think he has any problems, let alone many--his mouth being his most unstoppable resource, which just keeps on going and giving. I am a-feared this story will not have a happy ending.

his sister(the one in a video with mom) has a very prolong crack/heroin/meth addictions and she finally started attending NA this year. her husband is a big time drug trafficker and a violent felon. Rob's family has some skeletons in the closet. I don't want to pour more mud on the guy but come on, he is my city's mayor. Not a janitor.

And Rob doesn't even have any education beyond high school. he attended a University in USA for one year for political science, dreaming to play football. Due to his obesity and drinking he was never let near the team. He dropped out in his second semester failing 4 out of 6 courses. Then he goes back home and starts working for dad's company. ten years later, in 2001 he starts a political career becoming a MP for one of the worst ghetto areas in the city. Ten more years later, he is a mayor barely winning because of a third candidate; if there were only two, he would not have won. Damn, I wish my upbringing was that easy.

Between the infamous Carlos Danger and Ford, the media must be having a field day with these back to back crazy stories.

There hasn't been a bombastic political buffoon his equal around since Washington D.C. Councilman and former Mayor Marion Barry's infamous rise to inevitable fall during his 1989 drug scandal break while in office serving as--ditto--mayor of a big metropolis. It seems Great Minds think alike.

    On the incriminating evidence:

    Barry: “B**** set me up.”

Ford: “Number one, there is no video, so that’s all I can say. You can’t comment on something that doesn't exist.”

    The reassurance:

Barry: “Now, tomorrow, I can’t promise you. I can’t promise myself. It’s one day at a time.”

Ford: “I can assure people, hopefully it doesn't happen again.”

    On extenuating circumstances:

    Barry: “I’m a night owl.”

Ford: “Um, probably in one of my drunken stupors, probably approximately about a year ago.”

    On trifling amounts of intoxicants:

Barry: “Possession? With what, intent to use? That, little, that little bit, that, that little speck?

Ford: “Did I have a couple beers? Absolutely I had a couple beers.”

    Blaming the media:

Barry: “The (Washington) Post has decided my time’s up, that’s all."

Ford: Toronto Star reporters are “pathological liars.”

Toronto's mayor: New video is a 'minor setback'

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said Wednesday he had a "minor setback" this week when he was caught on video slurring his words and said his private life is not affecting his work.

[IMGR=''white'']https://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=36847&stc=1&d=1390484534[/IMGR]The video that emerged Tuesday showed Ford swearing and trying to imitate a Jamaican accent during a rant against Toronto's police chief. Ford has acknowledged it was him in the video and that he "had a little bit" to drink on Monday night. He said Wednesday that it is a private matter

"Monday was unfortunate. I had a minor setback. We all experience these difficult bumps in life," Ford said.

Ford said any suggestion that his personal life is impacting city business is absolute nonsense.

The mayor said he's working hard every day to improve his health and well-being, but said it is a private matter.

The mayor acknowledged last year that he had smoked crack but has rebuffed pressure to resign. He said in November that he was finished with drinking and vowed the public would never see a video of him intoxicated again.

He left the press conference Wednesday after being asked if he was on drugs in the video. He said he only wanted to take questions on Toronto's budget.

Ford said in November that he was working out and he has noticeably lost weight. Earlier this month, he put his name on the ballot to run for another term.

The City Council stripped Ford of most of his powers but lacked the authority to force him out because he wasn't convicted of a crime. The mayor was the subject of a police investigation but was never charged. According to police interviews, staffers accused Ford of frequently drinking.
