Jacksonville, Fla. — The smell of meth was in the air when police walked in.
Deputies in St. Johns County busted a meth lab and marijuana grow operation Wednesday morning at the Samara Lakes subdivision near World Golf Village.
"They did, in fact, when they entered find an active methamphetamine cook lab in progress that was ongoing," said Sgt. Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
The lab was safely dismantled. Mulligan says they've been investigating the location for two weeks.
He also mentioned a marijuana grow operation in side, though he didn't say how big it was.
Sue Boxx says she moved to the area five years ago and it has always been a very quiet neighborhood.
“Everybody’s nice. Nice little families. I love it here,” Boxx said.
“I would’ve never known anything because I saw them out there cutting their grass about a week ago.”
The investigation is ongoing, and we've learned the identity of two suspects who were arrested in connection with the meth lab bust - 38-year-old Christopher La Londe and 28-year-old Jennifer Nix.
