1. Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 4 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.

Mom's Pot-Ladened Breastmilk Given Baby Son Leads to Her, Husband's Drug Arrests

ROMANIA - He looks like quite a chilled out baby. And he is. But only because he has been getting cannabis highs through his mother’s breast milk.

Police raided the flat of Bogdan and Diana Curelaru as part of a drugs raid and as well as finding 3.5kg of weed, they found a one-year-old baby. Social workers took him away from the flat in Satu Mare, Romania, and thought that he was more sleepy than normal. A blood test revealed that he had cannabis in his system that had been passed on from his mother.

Police spokesman Radu Ionescu said: ‘The couple were taken into custody and interrogated. They had set up a drug trafficking network together with three other people were they sold one gram packets of cannabis for 50 lei (£10) in and around Satu Mare. ‘The couple were heavy users themselves and funded their lifestyle by growing the cannabis on the roof.’

Satu Mare Child Care manager, Eugenia Ardelean, said: ‘The mother thought that smoking cannabis was harmless and had no idea it was being passed on to the child through her milk. She did say that the baby had seemed unusually placid and slept most of the time, often needing to be woken to feed it.’

The boy is now being cared for by his grandmother.

For those who want quantitative information on potential effects of the transfer, we're a bit out of luck:
