Naked rampage blamed on bath salts

It was an average Sunday for people in Panama City, Florida's Plantation Point neighborhood until noon, when a naked man, allegedly high on bath salts wreaked havoc.

A flurry of 911 calls alerted authorities to the man's rampage.

30-year-old Andrew Mewbourne's outburst began in his own home with his girlfriend and small children inside.

Authorities say he left the house, running down Plantation Way nude, bloody and screaming.

"He also broke our fence down and he's sitting on our fence naked," a neighbor told a 911 dispatcher.

The rampage continued when Mewbourne allegedly smashed through a wooden privacy gate, then broke through Gail Little's bedroom window.

"My niece Sarah and I were sitting in the breakfast nook and we heard a large crash. We started towards the master bedroom where the sound came from, and then we heard a voice and we just knew instinctively that there was something very wrong and we ran," said Little.

In a matter of minutes Mewbourne tore apart everything in the bedroom.
He then moved to the bathroom and destroyed everything in there.

When he saw a deputy come into the room he jumped head first through another window and tried to run.

"He was still naked when they apprehended him in the backyard," said Captain Faith Bell of the Bay County Sheriff's Office.

Mewbourne's girlfriend told deputies he'd been taking bath salts since August 9th.

"In a pair of shorts that were in house that he had been wearing our investigators found a plastic bag which we believe contained bath salts," said Captain Bell.

Mewbourne is recovering in the hospital.

"From the amounts of blood left behind, he should be hurting pretty good about now," said Captain Bell.

He will be booked into jail upon his release.

Witnesses say Mewbourne also jumped onto a sego palm during the incident.

He is facing a number of charges, including a felony drug charge.

Christ, these fucking drugs are horrible for a lot of people. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts this guy had mental problems in the past and these crazy stimulants really seem to bring out the worst in those people. IE, the kid who fucked and killed the goat.

I wonder if "bath salt" horror stories are going to be the new thing like PCP horror stories were back in the day/

Yes bath salts will likely live on as a memorable black stain on the reputation of recreational drugs for years to come.

These bath salts seem to have no set predictable effect. One person can take them and be fine another has a violent reaction. Then look at this case the guy apprently has been doing this stuff for awhile then suddenly has a bad reaction. I for one am staying away from these things.

    I'm guessing MDPV???????????
It seems like something that would happen after 17 days of steady use of the drug. swim had 5 grams to himself and went insane with paranoia claiming everyone was plotting to kill him behind his back. VERY shady chemical if you ask mee.
