National Police seize 1,652 kilograms of hashish in a villa in Castelldefels.

Police arrested the group leader when he tried to flee Spain and the man who brought the drug in a van from Tangier (Morocco), said Police today.

Besides drugs, the agents found a hydraulic press, packaging moulds for hashish and two luxury cars and a large number of mobile phones and cash.

The investigations began in early December after police learned of the existence of an organized group of traffickers based in the outskirts of Barcelona. Apparently, they were awaiting a major shipment of hashish that was to be transported to the port of Barcelona from Tangier, hidden inside a van.

Once the police became aware of the arrival of the vehicle, they began surveillance on the vehicle and its occupant, who went to a luxury villa in Castelldefels.

Given the difficulties posed by the entry into the building, due to the wide concourse that existed between home and road, it was conducted by Special Operations Group (GOES) of the National Police.

Investigators went to El Prat airport, as it was certain that the alleged leader of the group, with branches in Morocco and other European Union countries, was preparing to leave the country once they learned that the shipment had arrived at the port of Barcelona and was stopped before boarding a plane to Morocco.
