Pastor blames Colorado floods on abortion, weed and ‘decadent homosexual activity’

  1. Rob Cypher
Christian pastor and radio host Kevin Swanson this week pointed to abortion, marijuana legalization and “decadent homosexual activity” as the possible cause of recent historic flooding in Colorado.

On his Generations With Vision radio show, Swanson reminded listeners that state House Speaker Mark Ferrandino had been photographed by the Denver Post kissing his gay partner.

“Is it a coincidence that this was the worst year politically in the history of Colorado, at least if you use God’s law as a means of determining human ethics?” he asked. “Our legislators committed homosexual acts on the front page of the Denver Post, do you remember that?”

He continued: “So here we have the very worst year in Colorado’s year in terms of let’s kill as many babies as possible, let’s make sure we encourage as much decadent homosexual activity as possible, let’s break God’s law with impudence at every single level, at every single level let’s make sure that we offend whoever wrote the Bible, so we have the worst year possible politically in the state of Colorado and it happens to be the worst year ever in terms of flood and fire damage in Colorado’s history.”

Co-host Dave Buehner paraphrased a Bible verse, saying that “this last year we walked in lewdness, lust, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties.”

    Marijuana,” Swanson added.

“And abominable idolatries and they think it’s strange down at that Gold Dome that we are not running with them in the same flood of dissipation,” Buehner added. “Sometimes when you’re in a flood of dissipation, God might bring a real flood to show you the consequences of the flood of your dissipation.”

Earlier this year, Swanson said that Ferrandino’s gay kiss and women wearing pants were linked to forest fires in Colorado.

Somehow I feel a variation on compassion for Kevin Swanson.

    I'll explain:

Initially I actually had feelings of malice toward him for his vile diatribe. To me his risible utterance is an actual hate crime, but after thought and consideration, it doesn't feel that myself or others should be infected with the same brand of retribution that he has malevolently spouted.

Please make no mistake that I utterly condemn this spiteful delusional fool's nasty "told you so's", but what a singularly peculiar strange thing to say.

I hasten to add that the "compassion" comes from a place of reading his misguided vitriol, and perhaps, that he will never change nor recover from his own stance of misery (and perhaps his own self-loathing).

It still doesn't excuse his smug schadenfreude at the misfortune and tragedy of others, though, as well as the malignant influence over some people that he (and his acolyte, Mr Buehner) may have.

Fires and floods, why sure has to be the result of abortion, drugs, and homosexuality. 'Cause it certainly ain't caused by no global warming. No sir. That shit's a hoax. 'Cause logic that's why.

God forgive Kevin Swanson. Even or especially if he believes what he says. But he doesn't.

i fail to see what his problem with weed is, is it perhaps a christian thing that isn't specifically mentioned in the bible but some extremists still take issue with it just for the sake of it?

medical marijuana has been deemed kosher by jewish leaders. i know, the two religions are vastly different but judaism is probably the closest one i can think of to christianity as their beliefs stem from the same books (i.e. the torah). coincidently enough, christains will often cite passages from it to justify their homophobia and whatnot.

not to get too off track here...but yeah, sounds like the rantings and ravings of a bigoted and perhaps unstable man. nothing more really. still interesting though.

Of all of the crazy stuff going on in the world, christian massacre in pakistan, Kenya, chemical wepons and other related mass death in syria ect.. Why would god get pissed about little old colorado?

Why doesnt the context ever factor in to claims like this. I doubt that men kissing, and marijuana are trumping syria lol

Isn't there a passage in the bible... that says I have given you all the plants of the world to use? Funny that fundamentalist don't follow that when it comes to drugs, but they want to take everything else literally.
