Police bust drug factory, arrest five
Jakarta Police raided Tuesday a rented house used as a drug factory in Condet, East Jakarta, arresting five suspects in the process.
The home factory reportedly churned out 2,000 Ecstasy pills a day.
Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Hamidin and East Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Hasanudin led the raid that began at 11 a.m. at the house on Jl. Batu Ampar 1, Gang Hamzah.
“The successful raid was the result of an investigation into a drug case in Central Jakarta,” Hamidin said as quoted by kompas.com.
“This factory was producing Rp 5 billion worth of Ecstasy pills every three weeks.”
Police have taken one of the suspects to the Central Jakarta Police headquarters and were still questioning the four others at the crime scene as of the time of writing.
Police also seized 1,500 Ecstasy pills, laboratory equipment and chemicals.
