Police have uncovered a major cannabis plantation near Tenterfield, in the New England region.

Police executed a search warrant on a property on Rocky River Road at Rocky River, east of Tenterfield, about 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 May).

They allegedly located and seized 1058 small cannabis plants and a number of other items.

The drugs have an estimated potential street value of just over $1million.

Yesterday’s operation follows the discovery of about 340 cannabis plants growing in another area of the same property in late April.

New England Local Area Command police, assisted by the Target Action Group, are continuing their inquiries.
