Police discover ecstasy lab, three arrested
JOHOR BAHARU, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Police believe they have crippled an Ecstasy processing and distribution syndicate in the city after arresting three men in a terrace house used as a laboratory in Jalan Danau 5, Taman Desa Jaya, here, two days ago.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said they found 1,400 Ecstasy pills and 1,050gm of powder, suspected to be Ecstasy, valued at RM300,000 (89,325 USD or 59,812 Euros) as well as drug processing equipment in the 6.30am raid.
"We also seized RM2,963 and a Perodua Kenari car," he told reporters here today.
Mohd Mokhtar said the three, aged between 32 and 51, tested positive for drugs but had no criminal records. They were believed to have been involved in the activity since last year and would be remanded until Monday.
In another development, Mohd Mokhtar said police arrested two men and two women, aged between 19 and 30, said to be involved in drug abuse at a shophouse in Jalan Tukas, Taman Soga, near Batu Pahat, at around 11.35am yesterday.
He said they also seized a .22 Magnum gun and 13 rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, in another raid, police detained a couple, both 27, for possession of heroin and firearms at their home in Kampung Baru Plentong, here, at 8.30am yesterday.
Checks on the house revealed 5.9gm of heroin, a .38 Smith & Wesson gun, three bullets, three parang and a butcher knife.
