Police face probe after pub raid
Huai Khwang police are under investigation for suspected negligence of duty or vested interests in connection with a pub popular with under-age revellers and drug users.
Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Santhan Chayanont has signed an order setting up a panel to investigate officers from Huai Khwang following a weekend raid on Twitter pub on Soi Ratchadaphisek 6, said Pol Maj-Gen Piya Uthayo, the city police spokesman.
The raid, at 1.30am on Saturday, netted 83 people under 20 years at the pub, 27 of whom - 13 boys and 14 girls - tested positive for drugs.
Some 300 grammes of ketamine were found in the men's toilet along with equipment used to take illicit drugs.
Huai Khwang police chief Anurak Nakpanom was transferred following the raid to an inactive post at the Metropolitan Police Bureau pending an inquiry into alleged negligence of duty.
The raid was carried out by a combined team from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board and the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission.
