Poppy, cannabis spread over 8,000 bighas destroyed since April: Kullu cops
Superintendent of Police K K Indoria said the police had destroyed illegal poppy cultivation on 2,765 bighas and cannabis crop on 6,000 bighas in Kullu district since April this year.
Interacting with people from all walks of life at the local police station on Sunday, he said they were working hard to keep a round-the-clock vigil on those indulged in narcotics trafficking, adding that a total of 95 cases under the NDPS Act were registered in the district this year. He demanded active cooperation and participation of the people in checking the menace. Indoria assured that all complaints would be entertained even if they were made through phone, adding that the complainants’ identity and contact details would be kept secret.
The SP said such meetings would also be held in rural areas in the future to strengthen community policing.
bighas appears to be a measurement anywhere between a 1/3 and 1 acre o not sure of the real size here
