1. Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 4 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.

A government survey indicates that the percentage of people 15 and older who have smoked marijuana increased 2.6-fold between 1995 and 2005, although the overall rate remains relatively low.

Cannabis users formed 1.3 percent of all respondents in a 2005 survey on drug use by the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, up from 0.5 percent in a previous survey in 1995.

Marijuana finished behind organic solvents, including paint thinner, which at a usage rate of 1.5 percent was the most abused type of drug in Japan.

In both the 1995 and 2005 surveys, the percentage of people who said they have taken stimulant drugs stood at 0.3 percent.

Kiyoshi Wada, who heads the department of drug dependence research at the center's National Institute of Mental Health, called on authorities to work out steps immediately to promote early treatment and social rehabilitation for drug users.

The Tokyo-based national center, an arm of the health ministry, surveyed 5,000 people. Valid responses were received from 3,057 people.

Slightly more than 3 percent of the respondents said they have been offered solvents, while 2.4 percent said they have been offered pot and 1.0 percent stimulant drugs.

Japanese only resort to solvents because they have nothing else to do except drink and smoke cigarettes.

Japanese people are so naive to the drug war that is happening outside it's borders that it takes little effort for police to squeeze information out of people. People will honestly rat on their source over threats to tell their parents.

Also, people stigmatize heavily in this country, and housewives gossip hardcore, so if word gets out about your "drug-problem" your family will get the nickname "junkie family" attached to their backs.

I know they are just trying to create a utopian society, just as white people did when they sailed to America. But SWIM wishes they'd go about it in a different way:beer:smoking:
