Pregnant Iowa woman claims her McDonald's burger was covered with cannabis

  1. Rob Cypher
An expectant mum called police after taking a bite out of a McDonald's burger to find it was "covered in weed".

Brittany Songer, 23, says she took a bite out of the burger to find the cheese smothered with cannabis. Fiancee Cory Long, 31, ordered the food at a restaurant in Ottumwa, Iowa, and delivered it to Brittany's work - where she claims she was 'overcome' by the smell of marijuana once she opened her burger.

She told the Ottumwa Post: "I took a bite out of my burger and got mad at Cory. It tasted bad and I thought maybe it was because he had cologne on his hands when he bit it. I opened the burger and the cheese was just covered with weed. Once I opened the burger, you couldn't smell McDonald's anymore. You could only smell the illegal drugs. I was in complete shock that someone would want to put that on someone's food and give it to them. They have no idea who it's going to and then it goes to a pregnant woman."

The McDouble has been sent for scientific testing to the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and results are not expected for another two months.

The Ottumwa Police Department said no charges had been filed. Lt Jason Bell said: "I saw a lot of stuff but never anything like this. It's a serious allegation and we want to come to the best possible conclusion in finding out where this (marijuana) originated from."

Wow, that is really funny, although i cannot imagine anybody's motivation for doing that. I am currently working in a fast-food place, and i think me and my co-workers would rather get stoned than to serve cannabis to our customers, lol

Seeing as her fiancee traveled to get it to her and did not open it immediately at the restaurant, I am a bit doubtful the workers covered the burger in marijuana. I feel that something happened in transmission, perhaps someone trying to drag up a lawsuit and make some money?

I've worked at a fast food restaurant before, and I just can't see anyone doing this even as a joke. None of the outcomes are good here. You get fired, sued, and end up giving away your weed. Of course I could be totally wrong, but I am a tad suspicious.

I don't think McDonald's crew would do this as well. Cory must be involved.

I've witnessed news reports from my area where fast food workers got caught selling weed or hard drugs out of their workplace, often placing it into what would look like a normal order to people not in the know. I have to wonder if there was an employee doing this who screwed up what was going to which people.

That was something i thought of too, although i would have presumed they would have put it in a baggie to keep the weed safe.

I would imagine there is CCTV in the working area as well as the dining area, if there is then it should be possible to spot where the cannabis started its McVoyage.
It could also possibly be an attempt by the person who made the claim to try and cash in, but that's just the cynical devil on my shoulder talking to me. :)

Looks like ZenobiaSky got to this story first: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=244811

Perhaps this thread should be merged with that one? (My bad, I usually try to make sure what I post isn't a duplicate of previous reports, but this one slipped through the cracks.)
