California tops the list with the highest number of thefts, with three of the pharma thefts occurring in that state. Overall, the number of cargo thefts is up from September, which saw a total of 55 incidents.
“As the holiday season approaches, increasing freight movement becomes an opportunity for thieves to target high-value loads,” reports Dan Burges, CPP, Corporate Director, Global Intelligence, FreightWatch, in the monthly update.
Theft from a trailer is the most popular type of theft overall, characterizing 60 of the 77 incidents. Pharmaceuticals stolen in October were also taken from warehouses and containers and during the last mile of delivery, shares the report.
