BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — A Slovak customs official says authorities have detained a Dutch national in possession of enough chemicals to produce up to one million ecstasy pills.
Miroslava Slemenska, a spokeswoman for Slovakia's Customs Administration, said on Thursday that the man was arrested Oct. 15 at Bratislava's international airport in possession of 200 kilograms (440 pounds) of chemicals that can be used to produce the drug.
She said the chemicals were found in four barrels placed in the man's car and were enough to produce up to one million ecstasy pills with a street value of up to €10 million ($14 million).
Slemenska said customs officials delayed announcement of the arrest pending full investigation.
