1. Dear Drugs-Forum readers: We are a small non-profit that runs one of the most read drug information & addiction help websites in the world. We serve over 4 million readers per month, and have costs like all popular websites: servers, hosting, licenses and software. To protect our independence we do not run ads. We take no government funds. We run on donations which average $25. If everyone reading this would donate $5 then this fund raiser would be done in an hour. If Drugs-Forum is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online another year by donating whatever you can today. Donations are currently not sufficient to pay our bills and keep the site up. Your help is most welcome. Thank you.

Smuggling ingenuity -- The smartest and daftest in illegal export attempts

When we were little and someone asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up, we didn't hesitate, "the head of a elaborate international smuggling ring... that or a bin-man, or the rodent owner of a successful comparison website."

Sadly after some none-too-favourable stints of work experience, which involved frankly altogether too much 'dry swallowing', we decided maybe international smuggling wasn't all it was cracked-up to be, though we still retain an intellectual interest in the topic.

We're fans of "blue sky thinking" in all walks of life -- especially when it comes to smuggling contraband.

So in honour of our lost vocation we've rounded-up seven of the dumbest, smartest and daftest examples of unconventional smuggling we could dig up.

Best one I ever saw was in DEA Micrograms, over a kilo oh heroin disguised as kidney beans! Yeah, over a thousand tiny bean shaped containers, individually packaged, then hidden among real beans! Seems like so much work...

Many people that get caught with drugs with sophisticated plans were ratted out by undercover or pressured workers. My dad used to work with Customs while he served in the Navy and while he was there Customs busted a man smuggling cocaine into the US by the means of peanuts, dry roasted, salted peanuts. They would take the seal off the container carefully with heat, wash the peanuts and instead of having salt it was laced with cocaine, then vacuum sealing the container like it was never touched. Hopefully no one with peanut allergies snorted that stuff.

And by no means do I claim that my father was the person who caught the person, he was just around to see the whole thing happen.
