Tajik Police Seize Over 100 Kg of Russia-Bound Heroin

Dushanbe, 15 July: The largest batch of drugs so far this year - over 100 kg of Afghan heroin - has been seized in northern Tajikistan, ITAR-TASS learnt today at the Tajik Interior Ministry's regional department for fighting organized crime. The drug was intended for Russia.
During a special operation, police detained two people suspected of drug smuggling. The source told ITAR-TASS that according to police, the detainees belong to a transnational drug group. No other details have been reported due to the continuation of the operation.
Since the beginning of this year, over 3.5 tonnes of drugs have been seized in Tajikistan, mainly opium and heroin.
