A 23-year-old Texan behind the wheel of a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado didn’t make it across the border when he reached the checkpoint at the Pharr International Bridge. After presenting his U.S. birth certficate and his Texas driver’s license, the man was escorted to a secondary inspection. Using an x-ray machine to scan the pick-up truck, agents discovered packages concealed in the Silverado.
Officers removed and seized nine packages of heroin weighing approximately 25.53 pounds and five packages of cocaine weighing approximately 12.40 pounds. On the street, the drugs are worth a combined $2.9 million. Border patrol arrested the adult male driver and subsequently released him to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations agents for further investigation.
