TNT Network Set To Launch New Show Centered Around Cocaine

HOLLYWOOD - While Untitled Cocaine Project sounds like a great title for a TV show, that probably won’t be the title when the project finally debuts on TNT, if it does at all. The network just ordered a pilot of the long-gestating project.

The project has been in the works for several years, but mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay have kept it alive and it finally earned a pilot order at the network today. It was written by Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex) and is set during the wild days of the 1970s drug trade in Florida.

Deadline reports that the project is based on a 2006 documentary called Cocaine Cowboys (which also sounds like a cool title).

Bay and Bruckheimer first set up the project at HBO in 2008, but it fell through. In 2011, Ashford joined, but it was still at HBO. However, Showtime finally started moving forward with Masters of Sex, which is now a hit series. It’s unlikely that Ashford could work on the cocaine project on an everyday basis.
