POLICE HAVE seized more than $1 million worth in cocaine and marijuana during two separate exercise in Barataria and Caura between Monday afternoon and yesterday morning.
The first exercise occurred began around 4 p.m., and ended at 9 p.m. on Monday.
The exercise involved officers from the Police K-9 Unit and the Barataria CID, including ag ASP Edwards, ag Insp Stewart and ag Sgt James.
Officers said they went to an abandoned house at St Louis Street, off Chanka Trace, El Socorro, where they found an air rifle and one kilogramme of pure cocaine.
The drug has an estimated street value of $500,000.
Five people were arrested during the exercise for possession of marijuana and cocaine.
In an unrelated incident, officers of the Northern Division Task Force Area-West (NEDTF-W) conducted an exercise at in a forest off Tumbasson Village, Caura Royal Road between 9 a.m and noon yesterday where they destroyed two marijuana fields.
The camps were also destroyed by officers. Among those involved in the exercise were PCs Harper, Gentle, Sookram, Rampersad, Stewart, Sammy, Bhim, Norton and Andrews.
