Two Given Life Sentence for Smuggling Hashish
ABU DHABI - The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has sentenced two men to life in jail for smuggling, possessing and consuming hashish. Another man was handed down a 10-year jail term for possessing drugs.
The men had been caught with 85kg of hashish. According to the judgment, the trio will be deported after serving their jail terms. Court records showed that the Abu Dhabi Police’s anti-narcotic unit received information that the prime suspect, an Arab man, was in possession of an amount of hashish and was looking for a buyer. The man was caught while arranging a deal to sell one kilogram of the contraband.
After his arrested, he took the police to another haul hidden in a truck in Dubai driven by the third man, also and Arab, who was arrested.
